Buddakan & Chelsea Market

December 29, 2014

I love eating. It’s no secret. All kinds of food are welcomed to grace the presence of my palate. I exclude no kinds, and take no prisoners when it comes to food.

I am a self-proclaimed foodie. I don’t need some extravagant presentation of my food in order to enjoy it. As long as it tastes good, I’m good. However, sometimes the ambiance of where you’re eating can add to the whole experience. If you’re in a cool space, sometimes the food can taste that much better.

So, I ventured to Buddakan this weekend. Buddakan is one of those trendy, hip restaurants downtown in Manhattan. It’s one of those restaurants you go to if you want to be seen. Right across the street from the very hip and popular TAO, Buddakan exudes cool and trendy.

So what was the food like, you may be asking? Well, it was great! The ambiance of course helped, but nonetheless, the taste of the food stood out on it’s own!

We ordered dim sum for appetizers, which tasted like heaven wrapped in dough. My favorite were the General Tso’s Dumplings, they were absolutely delicious.

Next up, for the main course, we ordered vegetable rice with coconut curry foam, wok charred broccoli, and broken chili chicken. Each dish literally exploded with flavor, and made my taste buds dance with excitement. The vegetable rice was by far my favorite because of it’s coconut (which I love) curry foam!

For dessert, we ordered almond bread pudding. Now as someone who’s not the biggest fan of bread pudding, I wasn’t expecting much. Buddakan, however, changed that! The almond bread pudding was absolutely delicious, and barely tasted overly nutty because of the almonds, or overly doughy because of the bread pudding. It was served with bananas and whiskey flavored ice cream. A combination that will send you into food euphoria.

No night is complete without two desserts, of course. So we headed over to Chelsea Market and roamed around. I stumbled upon a crepe place that absolutely topped my night off. I ordered a crepe with strawberries, bananas, and nutella. I don’t know about you, but anything with nutella in it makes me happy.

After I inhaled the crepe, we wandered around Chelsea Market some more, and I have to say it’s definitely my new favorite place. It has shopping, food, and some sweet decor! I even picked up some goodies along the way. Check out Marlon and Audrey!
