Open City is a D.C. hotspot! It’s by far one of the more popular brunch spots in the district. According to every article I’ve read about the best brunch spots in D.C., Open City has been on every single one.
So this weekend my friend Grace and I took a trip over to Open City for some delicious brunch. The restaurant was only a two minute walk from the metro station stop, so it was super easy to find (a plus in my book).
The outside of the place alone is pretty great. It’s a nice light blue building, with an outdoor seating area for when warmer weather arrives.
When got there we had to wait a little while because it was PACKED (talk about popular). We didn’t wait long though, and once we sat down, it was so worth it.
I ordered a delicious chai latte, which started my morning (or afternoon?) off right.
We both ordered the Open City Royale. For those of you who don’t know, the Open City Royale is the breakfast of champions. I ordered mine with scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, french toast, and an English muffin. When I tell you that I had never been happier to be eating brunch, I’m not lying. To top it all off, they had a delicious selection of jam. Strawberry jam and pineapple jam were our options, so naturally, we ordered both! The pineapple jam tasted like a vacation in my mouth. If you have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, I suggest you try some pineapple jam for yourself!
Overall, brunch was great! We were tempted to order dessert to go, but we were so stuffed from brunch that we ended up not ordering any. We’ll definitely be back, so we’ll get dessert during our next trip!
